Leaked: AC Milan Back to Adidas in Reported €500m Deal

TL;DR

The Leak

The story has built in two stages. In early October, Italian outlet Calcio e Finanza pointed to Milan as the likely club in talks with Adidas, and SempreMilan relayed that report on 2 October. At the time, sources at the club wouldn’t comment beyond calling Puma an important partner with a contract in place.

The second stage came on 4 November. Footy Headlines updated its coverage to say journalist Luca Bianchin of La Gazzetta dello Sport had confirmed the agreement and the price. You can read the claims in the Footy Headlines report.

A word of caution on that figure. We’ve only seen it through Footy Headlines and couldn’t find the Gazzetta piece itself, so treat €500m as reported, not settled. Calcio e Finanza’s earlier report supports the move itself, but not that price.

There’s no design to break down yet. The picture above is simply two logos on red and black stripes. Nothing has leaked about a 2028-29 shirt, whether that’s the collar, the stripe width or the crest.

Puma’s last shirts come first. Our 27-28 home kit report covers the thinner stripes expected on what would be Puma’s final Milan home shirt. The 27-28 third kit report has the colours linked to that season’s alternate.

Adidas has plenty of Milan history to draw on if it wants to. Its long spell covered the 2003 and 2007 Champions League wins, and we’ve written about the 2006-07 Athens shirt in detail. Whether it will isn’t known, so any 2028-29 design you see before an announcement is a fan concept.

How It Compares

If the number holds, Milan would jump past their Serie A rivals. Footy Headlines gives these approximate annual values, while the current Puma figure comes from Milan’s financial statements, as cited in SempreMilan’s report.

That would come close to doubling what Milan receive now. It would also be a reunion. Adidas supplied the club from 1998 until 2018, when Puma took over, and SempreMilan lists two shorter Adidas spells before that, in 1978-80 and 1990-93.

Adidas already dresses Juventus, Roma and Lecce, according to SempreMilan, while Como are due to leave the brand and make their own kits from 2027-28.

When Can You Buy It?

Not for a long while. An Adidas Milan shirt couldn’t arrive before the 2028-29 season, and Footy Headlines doesn’t expect an announcement until late 2027 or early 2028.
