What has leaked, and where did the pictures come from?

Two fresh photographs of the Aston Villa 2026-27 third shirt were shared by @TheVillaHome on 1 August 2026 and aggregated by Footy Headlines. They are retail pictures, not renders: the shirt is on an Adidas hanger, on a rail, in a store in Tenerife that had put it out early.

That matters for confidence. A render can be a mock-up built from a spec sheet, and it can be wrong. A photograph of a hanging production unit with a size tag on it shows a finished garment, so what is visible in these images is very likely to be the retail specification. Neither Aston Villa nor Adidas have announced the kit, and no release date has been confirmed as of 1 August 2026.

What does the Aston Villa 26-27 third kit look like?

The body is a pale, icy sky blue. Across it Adidas have layered two graphics: a fine dotted texture that covers the whole shirt, and, sitting over that, much larger scroll-shaped swirls in a slightly lighter tone. Reporting ties the motif to the brickwork and the ornate gates at Villa Park, and looking at the shirt itself that reads correctly — the curls resemble wrought ironwork.

Claret does the structural work. It fills the shoulder panels, which run down into the raglan seam, and returns as a ribbed crew collar. No white is visible in these pictures, so the front sits on two colours plus the crest.

The crest is the standard claret and blue shield with the yellow lion and the ASTON VILLA banner. Sky blue paired with claret is not a new Villa idea, but it has been away for a while: this is reported as the first time since 2022-23 that the combination has come back.

Why is the Adidas logo in the middle of the chest?

This is the part of the leak worth slowing down on. On the shirt in these pictures, no three-stripe application is visible on the shoulders or the sleeves. Instead a small claret Adidas mark sits centrally, directly above the crest, and the crest itself is centred too, not pushed to the left breast.

That changes the shirt more than it sounds. With nothing on the sleeves, the swirl graphic runs unbroken from the collar to the cuff, so the eye reads the front as one printed surface. It also makes the shirt symmetrical, which is unusual in football and is the first thing you notice in the photographs.

One further observation from the pictures: no front sponsor appears on the unit shown. These images cannot tell us whether that reflects the final retail specification or a sponsor-free version, and neither the club nor Adidas have addressed it.

How does it compare with the 26-27 home shirt?

The two go in opposite directions. Villa’s 2026-27 home shirt leaked as an all-claret heritage look, quiet and traditional, with the colour doing the talking. The third does the reverse: a light base, a loud all-over graphic, and a symmetrical front.
