How we ranked the 2026/27 MLS kits

One important clarification before the list: there is no MLS 2026/27 season. MLS 2026 is a calendar-year campaign that kicked off on 21 February 2026, and the league only moves to a summer-to-spring calendar after a condensed transition season in early 2027. Shirts sold as “MLS 26/27” are these 2026 kits. Every club released exactly one new shirt for 2026 — home or away, with the other carried over — all made by Adidas. 1. Atlanta United — Away (Adidas)

Named the Spirit of ’96 kit, this is the away shirt of the season. Adidas built a cream and gold base around forest-green accents lifted from the 1996 Centennial Olympics emblem, with a gold-on-gold crest sitting on a green patterned vertical stripe that evokes an Olympic medal sash. 2. Orlando City — Away (Adidas)

The Sunken Treasure kit is Orlando’s first primarily gold shirt. A vibrant yellow-gold base carries a tonal all-over graphic of flowing maritime patterns, with a large-scale lion motif across the front panel and subtle ship detailing worked into the print. 3. LA Galaxy — Home (Adidas)

The VeloCITY kit brings the Galaxy sash back properly. A navy diagonal band runs from the right shoulder to the lower-left torso across a white base, framed in gold and deliberately broken by several cuts meant to symbolise growth. Blue returns as the dominant secondary on the three stripes and sleeve trim, with gold edging on collar and cuffs. The crest carries a six-star alignment and a 96 mark for the inaugural season. 4. Inter Miami CF — Away (Adidas)

Miami’s Presagio away is a black base with pink logos, anthracite three stripes and a proper polo collar — the sharpest thing the club has worn. The crest is rendered entirely in pink and topped with a silver star marking the 2025 MLS Cup title. Miami also got the standout Archive Collection third: an off-white Miami Vice shirt in pink, teal and black that uniquely carries the retro Adidas Trefoil instead of the Performance logo. 5. Philadelphia Union — Home (Adidas)

The 1776 kit is the boldest concept in the league. Adidas covered the shirt in an all-over graphic drawn from the Declaration of Independence, complete with imagery of the Founding Fathers and historical text including the date July 4, 1776. 6. New York Red Bulls — Home (Adidas)

Marketed under the line Red Runs Deep, the Rooted kit is a black base covered in red lightning-bolt graphics radiating across the body and down the sleeves, with the Adidas three stripes on the shoulders. It is the most aggressive home shirt in MLS this season and a clear break from the club’s usual white-and-red look, which makes it the sort of kit that sells well beyond the fanbase. 7. Vancouver Whitecaps — Away (Adidas)

The Coastal Jersey is a deep coastal blue drawn from the strength of the Pacific, and the detailing is where it earns its place: a pattern of light blue and white lines on the collar and sleeve cuffs is taken directly from the club crest and reads as the mountains that ring the city. San Diego’s second season kit is a white base crossed by orange and blue wavy lines that create an electric, rippling effect, finished with blue three stripes and trim. LAFC stayed on brand with a black base and gold detailing carrying an art-deco pattern, a nod to the architecture of downtown Los Angeles. The club has one of the strongest fixed identities in MLS — black and gold, no negotiation — so the design work happens in the texture rather than the colourway.
