The first image of River Plate’s next change shirt appeared on Saturday 3 October 2026, when Footy Headlines published it. The picture is blurry, so treat it as a first impression, not a close-up. It still shows enough to read the layout: the diagonal sash every River fan knows, worn in a colourway that flips the usual white-and-red look.

Design Breakdown

Colourway. Black is the main colour, and the sash runs across it in red. The logos and other applications are white. That makes the sash the only strong colour on the shirt, so it stands out much more than it does against a white home base.

Crest. The leak shows the retro CAPR crest (Club Atlético River Plate) rather than the modern badge. River have used throwback crests on special shirts before, but putting one on a regular away kit is a stronger statement.

Logo. adidas uses its Trefoil, the heritage logo, instead of the three-bar performance mark. Put that together with the old crest and the 27-28 change shirt clearly leans retro.
