The Leak

Inter’s next away shirt may look back as much as forward. An exclusive from Footy Headlines, published on 21 October 2026, says Nike will use the club’s 1979-88 crest on the Inter Milan 27-28 away kit.

The timing fits. The 2027-28 season lands on the 120th anniversary of the club, which was founded in 1908. The report ties the crest revival to that anniversary.

The image at the top is a graphic, not a photo of the new shirt. On the left it shows four 1980s Inter shirts that carry the old crest: two black-and-blue striped, two white, with the Misura sponsor on three of them. The maker logos on those shirts are Puma, Le Coq Sportif and Uhlsport. On the right sits a white panel with a blue diagonal band, a blue Nike swoosh and the shield crest. It hints at colours, not at the final design.

There is no confirmation yet from Inter or Nike.

Crest

This is the headline detail. The 1979-88 badge is a shield rather than the round monogram Inter fans know today. On a white field, black and blue bands cut across at an angle. A gold star sits above, and a stylised white snake, the Biscione, is the centrepiece.

It first appeared in 1979-80, the season Inter won their 12th Scudetto. Snake-inspired patterns have shown up on recent kits, but this shield has not been on an Inter match shirt since the Misura-sponsored shirts of the late 1980s.

Colourway

The base is reported to be white, which continues Inter’s habit of white away shirts. Accents are said to come in Lyon Blue, a vivid royal blue Nike has used in recent Inter collections. Expect it on logos, trim and graphics, according to the report.
