Ewen Jaouen is a French goalkeeper who joined Newcastle United from Reims in summer 2026, in a deal reported at around £18m. He arrived to add depth to Newcastle’s goalkeeping department for the 2026-27 season.

Why does a goalkeeper wear No. 24?

The No. 1 is traditionally reserved for the first-choice goalkeeper, and Premier League squad numbers stay with a player until he leaves or changes them. New arrivals take a number that is free when the squad is registered, which is why backup and new goalkeepers often wear higher numbers such as 12, 13, 22, 24 or 26.
