How did we rank the 2026/27 away kits?

We only ranked kits that clubs had unveiled by 6 October 2026, and that we hold in stock. Each shirt was scored on how distinctive the concept is, how clean the colour palette looks, whether the story behind it makes sense, and how likely it is to be worn outside matchdays. 1. Real Madrid – Adidas

A dark “Aurora Ivy” green base, a geometric pattern drawn from the crest and a stylised “RMCF” motif woven through the fabric. According to Footy Headlines, it is the first time the retro Adidas Trefoil has appeared on a Real Madrid away shirt, and the club’s first notable green since the 2012/13 Champions League kit. 2. Arsenal – Adidas

The “Bruised Banana” reversed. Collegiate navy takes over from yellow as the base, with red and yellow accents and a Trefoil badge, echoing the 1991-93 away shirt that fans still talk about. Navy shorts and yellow-trimmed socks complete the set, which was unveiled on 24 July. Familiar enough to feel nostalgic, different enough to feel fresh. See the Arsenal away jersey.

3. Marseille – Puma

Deep ocean blue with an all-over pattern inspired by sea charts and bathymetry, a tribute to the Mediterranean under the theme “Méditerranéen”. Footy Headlines reports it was unveiled on 16 June and pairs neatly with the lavender Provence third shirt. It is subtle from a distance and detailed up close. 4. AC Milan – Puma

A white shirt with gold and black accents and a phoenix-wing pattern, built around Milan’s Champions League redemption story, from Istanbul in 2005 to the 2007 final in Athens. A gold laurel wreath around the crest marks 100 years of San Siro, and the collar carries the line “Dopo Istanbul c’è sempre Atene”. Released on 21 July. View the AC Milan away jersey.

5. AS Roma – Adidas

An ecru base crossed by a red and yellow chest band, with a vintage Roma crest from 1945-49 beside the Trefoil. The theme is “Pietas”, the Roman virtue of loyalty and duty. It was unveiled on 8 July, with fans able to buy from 6 August according to Footy Headlines. It looks like a museum piece in the best way. Shop the Roma away jersey.

6. Stade Rennais – Puma

A white shirt split by a huge black cross painted like a brushstroke, with a black V-neck collar and monochrome logos. The Breton motto “Kentoc’h mervel eget bezañ saotret” sits inside the collar. Unveiled on 16 July, it is bold without being loud. Browse the Rennes away jersey.

7. RC Lens – Adidas

Lens’s away shirt, in the club’s switch from Puma to Adidas, is black with an anthracite mining-inspired pattern and green Three Stripes. A graphic inside the collar nods to Saint Barbara, patron saint of miners, honouring the coal-mining heritage of the Nord-Pas-de-Calais. It arrived on 6 June. Get the Lens away jersey.

8. Olympique Lyonnais – Adidas

A red base with tonal vertical stripes and maroon accents, celebrating the “Canuts”, the silk weavers of Lyon. A minimalist lion replaces the full crest, and a subtle floral pattern runs along the collar and cuffs. Unveiled on 12 May, it is the quietest design in our top ten, and that suits it. 9. Atlético Madrid – Nike

Black with fluorescent volt-green accents on the Swoosh, sponsor and crest, plus a faint pattern of repeating triangles. Footy Headlines says it is Atlético’s first black away kit in three seasons, and it was unveiled on 18 May. Sharp, modern and easy to style. Shop the Atlético Madrid away jersey.

10. Lille – New Balance

A clean white shirt that revives the club’s 1990s whites, with a blue polo collar, red brick graphics on the cuffs and the 1989-97 crest with the jumping dog returning. A “10 + ANS” mark inside the collar celebrates a decade with New Balance. Released on 31 July. View the Lille away jersey.

Which away kits just missed out?

Real Betis wear two shades of green in a floral pattern from Hummel that fans have praised, according to Footy Headlines. Napoli’s EA7 white shirt with light blue pinstripes and a Vesuvius silhouette, Athletic Club’s black Castore shirt with a small Ikurriña on the neck, Sevilla’s red Trefoil polo and Valencia’s navy-and-orange Puma design all came close.
