Third kits are where kit designers stop playing safe. The 2026/27 batch is the boldest in years: pink at Real Madrid, lavender at Marseille, neon purple at Dortmund and a red Napoli shirt that puts the crest on the wrong side on purpose. Below is our ranking of the ten best, all officially released and all in stock at 433FC. Updated on 20 September 2026 with the third shirts launched since, including Chelsea’s white pinstripe kit.

Which 2026/27 third kit is the best?

Real Madrid’s dark pink Adidas third shirt is the best 2026/27 third kit. It pairs a tonal geometric pattern with an ivory V-neck and ivory three stripes, and it is the rare alternate shirt that looks expensive rather than loud. Liverpool’s black-and-maroon Kop tribute and Napoli’s inverted 1986/87 homage complete the top three.

1. Real Madrid — Adidas, dark pink and ivory

Released on 12 August 2026. A dark pink base carries an all-over geometric pattern of interlocking diamonds and dotted lines, offset by an ivory V-neck, ivory cuffs and ivory three stripes. 2. Liverpool — Adidas, black with maroon flags

3. Napoli — EA7, red with inverted branding

Released on 4 August 2026. A red shirt with sky blue and white collar detailing, built as a homage to Napoli’s 1986/87 season. The neat trick is the layout: crest and maker’s mark sit on the opposite sides to the modern norm, exactly as they did in the eighties. The centenary mark hides inside the collar. 4. Olympique Marseille — Puma, Provence lavender

Released on 17 July 2026. Lavender is a genuinely difficult colour to sell to a fanbase, and Puma got away with it by grounding the shirt in midnight blue at the collar, cuffs and side panels, then running a tone-on-tone olive branch pattern across the body. Only the second purple shirt in OM’s history.

5. Arsenal — Adidas, pale yellow lightning

Released on 3 August 2026. Arsenal’s first yellow third shirt in five seasons revives the navy lightning bolt from the 1994/95 away kit, extended onto the shorts. Nostalgia done without a straight reissue. Shop Arsenal jerseys.

6. Barcelona — Nike, Green Frost and Dusty Cactus

Released on 12 August 2026. A half-and-half split of two greens, with a Loyal Blue V-neck and red trim, nodding to Kappa’s 1996/97 away shirt. Nike also drew a blocky bespoke typeface for the name and number set, which is the detail that lifts it.

7. Juventus — Adidas, black and metallic gold

Released on 7 August 2026. Black shirt, metallic gold crest and three stripes, and a grey flame graphic climbing from the hem — a reference to the Latin iuventus, meaning youth. “Youth since 1897” is printed under the collar.

8. Olympique Lyonnais — Adidas, black with multicolour funk

Released on 28 July 2026. Turquoise, pink and orange segments cut through the Adidas logo and the club crest outline on a black base, with linework borrowed from vinyl records. A tribute to Lyon’s status as France’s capital of funk, and far better resolved than that sentence suggests.

9. Atlético Madrid — Nike, grey with retro stripes

Released on 24 August 2026. Light grey body, navy and red horizontal stripes across the chest and sleeves, and a dark polo collar with red trim. The template is a deliberate early-2000s Nike throwback. We currently stock this one in the player version fit only.

10. Borussia Dortmund — Puma, neon purple

Which third kits have launched since this ranking was written?

Four more third shirts have appeared since the ranking above was compiled. None of them is in our warehouse yet, so none is ranked against the ten shirts we can actually ship — but all four are worth knowing about.

• Chelsea — launched by the club on 12 September 2026. Nike went predominantly white for the first time in close to a decade, with narrow red pinstripes, Rush Blue trim at the neck and cuffs, and the old shield-format crest back on the left chest. The reference points are Chelsea’s away and third shirts of the late eighties and early nineties. It is the strongest of the four, and it would sit inside the top five on design alone. Current stock sits in the Chelsea shirt range, where the 2025/26 third kit is the closest equivalent we hold.

Which third kits are still to come?

PSG’s 2026/27 third shirt was still unreleased as of 20 September 2026. Leaked images reported in the kit press show a mainly black shirt with red panels, a multicoloured central stripe and special-effect logos, with a release expected in September or October 2026. Treat those details as reported rather than final until Paris Saint-Germain confirm them. We will update this ranking when the shirt lands.
