Liverpool Player Version Shirts: Fit, Fabric & Sizing
Liverpool player version shirts are the body-mapped, match-cut version of the club’s adidas kit. The 2026/27 Active Maroon home shirt uses a heat-applied crest instead of embroidery, which adidas says is lighter and reduces skin friction. 433FC’s replica player-version Liverpool shirts are $44.99 against $37.99 fan.
One thing to get straight first, because it still trips buyers up: Liverpool are an adidas club, and have been since 1 August 2025. The switch from Nike took effect at the start of the 2025/26 season, so 2026/27 is adidas year two, not year one. Liverpool wore leftover Nike kit through the summer 2025 pre-season before the deal began, which is where a lot of the confusion comes from.
The 2026/27 home shirt was released on 19 May 2026 and it is a deliberate revival of the 1989-91 adidas “Candy” era. The base colour is officially named “Active Maroon” — noticeably deeper and richer than the bright scarlet of the original — carrying an all-over geometric graphic of white line details and triangular flecks across the front, sleeves and back, with the spacing opened up around the crest and sponsor compared with the 1989 shirt. The collar and cuffs invert the original: red flat-knit with white tipping, where 1989 was white with red tipping. The adidas Three Stripes on the shoulders are enlarged.
For a player-version buyer the important detail is the crest. On this shirt it is heat-applied rather than embroidered, and adidas states that this makes it significantly lighter and reduces skin friction. Liverpool and adidas also describe the Player Edition as using advanced body-mapping, with the fabric engineered in distinct zones across the chest and body for moisture and temperature regulation. Since November 2025 the adidas authentic tier has been branded Climacool+, with Climacool on replicas — HEAT.RDY and AEROREADY are retired, so any 2026/27 Liverpool listing citing HEAT.RDY is out of date.

How does the Liverpool player version fit?
It fits close through the chest and tapers at the waist, with a short hem and a narrow sleeve. The 2026/27 shirt uses a red flat-knit collar with white tipping, which sits higher and firmer than a bonded crew neck. Size up once if you are between sizes or want a looser drape.
What sizes are available in Liverpool player version shirts?

Which Liverpool name and number should you get?
This is the question where Liverpool buyers most need updating. Mohamed Salah has left the club. He has been a free agent since 1 July 2026, after agreeing to terminate his contract twelve months early and ending nine years at Anfield, and the number 11 shirt is reported vacated. Links to Saudi Pro League clubs, Roma and Juventus are rumour only and no new club had been announced at the time of writing. A 2026/27 Liverpool shirt printed with Salah 11 is not a current shirt.
The names that are current: Alexander Isak at 9, Florian Wirtz at 7, captain Virgil van Dijk at 4, Dominik Szoboszlai at 8, Alexis Mac Allister at 10, Hugo Ekitike at 22, Cody Gakpo at 18 and Alisson at 1. Liverpool finished fourth in 2025/26 on 60 points and appointed Andoni Iraola as head coach in early June 2026, succeeding Arne Slot.
Looking after a heat-applied crest
Liverpool’s 2026/27 crest being heat-applied is a genuine performance gain, but it is also the part of the shirt most easily destroyed by a hot wash or a careless iron. Turn the shirt inside out, wash at 30C on a gentle cycle, hang it to dry rather than tumbling it, and keep the iron off the crest and the flat-knit collar entirely. Is the Liverpool player version worth it?
It is worth it if you want the zoned, body-mapped build and the lighter heat-applied crest, or you play in the shirt. If you mainly want the Candy-era graphic to wear casually, the fan version gives you the same Active Maroon shirt and geometric pattern for $7 less and with more room.
