Why does this happen?
Football video game licensing runs on competing exclusivity deals. Konami has spent years building “Official Global Partnerships” with clubs and leagues that EA doesn’t hold — that’s why AC Milan, Inter Milan and a cluster of major Brazilian clubs (Corinthians, Flamengo, São Paulo, Atlético Mineiro, Internacional, Santos, per current reporting) sit on the eFootball side of the fence. A domestic league is difficult for either publisher to brand fully once enough of its flagship clubs are locked to the rival platform.
