When was the Atalanta 2026/27 third kit released?

Atalanta put the shirt on sale at 11:00 CEST on Friday 25 September 2026. It was available from the club’s own stores, its online shop and New Balance’s website. That ends a short wait: the design first surfaced as a leak on 19 September, and we covered those images at the time. The shirt that went on sale is essentially the leaked sample, with one difference that fans will notice straight away: the crest.

The club did not name a debut fixture in its announcement. Third shirts in Serie A usually appear when a colour clash rules out both home and away, so expect it first in an away game against a side in black, blue or white.

The base colour is a warm beige that New Balance calls Toasted Sesame. It is a long way from Atalanta’s black-and-blue stripes, and that is deliberate. The third slot has become the place where clubs try something the home shirt could never carry. The V-neck collar and the sleeve cuffs are trimmed in black and a pale shade New Balance names Taffy Blue, and those two accents are what tie the shirt back to the Nerazzurri.

Look closer and the body is not flat. A geometric jacquard is woven into the fabric, tone on tone, so it reads as plain beige from the stands and only shows its texture up close. The pattern comes from the Meridiana, an 18th-century sundial set into the stone floor under the portico of the Palazzo della Ragione in Bergamo’s upper town. The club frames it as the sun shining on Atalanta, which is a neat idea for a shirt this colour.

There is a hidden detail too. Printed inside the collar is a graphic of the Bergamo skyline with the motto “LA MAGLIA SUDATA SEMPRE”, roughly “the shirt, always sweated for”. Only the wearer sees it.

Why does it use the 1964 crest?

Instead of the current shield, the chest carries Atalanta’s crest from 1964: the running goddess set against black and blue stripes. Early reports of the leak described the standard badge, so this is the main change between the leaked shirt and the finished one. Alternative and heritage crests are one of the clearest kit trends this season, and a retro badge sits better on a neutral base than the modern shield would. The Lete logo appears on the front in red, SNAIFUN also features, and the New Balance mark is in black. The fabric is New Balance’s NB DRYx, a lightweight breathable knit.

What sets the new third apart is that it relies on texture and a story about the city rather than on bold colour. If you already own the home shirt and want something you can wear away from the stadium, the answer is probably yes. Beige with a pale blue collar works with jeans in a way that bold stripes rarely do. The retro crest is the other selling point: it gives the shirt a heritage feel without making it a replica of an old design. The risk runs the other way. A supporter who wants the shirt to say “Atalanta” from fifty metres will find this one too quiet, and they should stick with the stripes.
