Liverpool Squad Numbers 2026/27: Who Wears What (Full List)

Liverpool’s 2026/27 squad numbers are settled for most of the first team, and the headline change is at the back: Jérémy Jacquet has taken the No. 5 vacated by Ibrahima Konaté. Two of the club’s most recognisable recent numbers, Mohamed Salah’s No. 11 and Andy Robertson’s No. 26, are currently unassigned.

What are Liverpool’s squad numbers for 2026/27?

As of 29 July 2026, Virgil van Dijk keeps No. 4, Alisson keeps No. 1, and Florian Wirtz keeps No. 7. Alexander Isak wears No. 9 and Hugo Ekitiké No. 22. The only change among the senior outfield numbers is Jacquet at No. 5. Numbers can still move until the transfer window closes on 1 September 2026.

Numbers not listed above are currently unallocated. Squad lists stay provisional across July and August, so the high numbers at the fringe of the squad are the most likely to move.

Why did Jérémy Jacquet get the No. 5 shirt?

Because Konaté took it with him when he left. Liverpool confirmed Jacquet’s number on 16 July 2026 with a short video on X showing the defender being handed the shirt. The 20-year-old joined from Rennes in a deal reported at around £60m by Sky Sports, on a contract reported to run five years with the option of a further one.

The neat detail is that Jacquet inherits the number from a fellow French centre-back. Konaté wore No. 5 from 2021 until his Liverpool contract expired in 2026, and joined Real Madrid as a free agent; as of 29 July 2026 he is listed there with No. 27. Liverpool have handed the shirt from one France international centre-back straight to another, which is tidier succession planning than most number allocations get. Wijnaldum wore the No. 5 from 2016, and Daniel Agger held it for most of the years before that. It has been a defender’s shirt at Anfield more often than not, which makes the allocation to Jacquet unsurprising once it came free.

Why are the No. 11 and No. 26 shirts empty?

Both belonged to players who left this summer. Liverpool announced in March 2026 that Salah would leave at the end of the season, and he wore No. 11 from 2017 until his departure; as of 29 July 2026 his next club has not been confirmed, with reporting pointing towards Saudi Arabia or MLS rather than a European return. Robertson, No. 26 since 2017, is reported to have joined Tottenham Hotspur on the expiry of his contract.

Leaving both numbers unassigned rather than reissuing them immediately is a choice, not an oversight. Clubs routinely park a number for a season after a long-serving player leaves, and Liverpool have space in the squad list to do it. Whether either shirt stays empty depends on late-window signings.

Robertson’s own decision at Tottenham is the more interesting footnote. He did not take No. 26 at his new club, choosing No. 3 instead, and explained that the number had not been used at Spurs since Ledley King and that he wanted to respect that. Which Liverpool number should you print on your shirt?

This is the question we get most often in the shop, and the honest answer is that it depends on how long you want the shirt to stay current. Printing is the one part of a jersey you cannot undo.

From handling returns on printed shirts across the last few seasons, the pattern we see is consistent: blank shirts and long-contract defenders come back least. Attacking numbers bought early in the window tend to be the ones customers regret later in the season, because forwards move most. If you are buying a gift and you are not certain of the recipient’s favourite player, leave it blank.
